art vs. porn cuntinued

Wed Aug 5, 2009, 3:23 AM
For those who haven't read the first 'Art vs. Porn' blog entry, go back and read. Hurry up because this one is real juicy. In it I expose myself to the world. I apologize for not speaking literally just then. I know everyone's dying to see my flesh wand. Here it is.

Context is also a large part of the Art v. Porn debate.

For instance, if the picture I posted in that link down there were hung in a museum, it would probably elicit a different reaction than displaying on a porn site.

Same could be said for random paint splotches on a canvas.

if pornography is presented in a context where art is expected, then it is possible that somebody out there would see some art in it.

I believe that if a piece is viewed as an aspect of a larger whole with various other aspects, it changes peoples' perceptions of it significantly.

dA is an art site, but there is porn on it. I ask you; what is the harm in browsing porn on an art site when COMMENTS ARE OPTIONAL>

I admit there is porn on this site as well as art...I just view it as dA, and if I want to see 'real' art, I'll go to an actual gallery somewhere downtown. Very rarely do I seek out other people's art on this site, though works of close friends and acquaintances are an exception.

Over the years I have found that I enjoy browsing artistic nudes on dA as a substitute for the stupidity and disrespect towards women I find in most porn. Some might view my actions as creepy or perverted, but I can almost guarantee I'm not the only one who does this. This is the internet we're talking about.

I've been feeling very brave these days, and if people from all continents and walks of life are bold enough to post their naked bodies on a site nearly as massive as myspace, then why should I bite my tongue, and sit here holding my guilty conscience like a ball and chain?

Fuck that.

I'm gonna be honest about my perversions. This is America: we're obsessed with sex and nudity because it's taboo. I think incorporating taboo into art is a great idea because it unearths the most extreme human emotions; desire and denial, disgust and arousal, fear of getting caught and the giddiness of doing something naughty.

One thing that annoys me is people who complain. Those who stumble across what they consider porn and make a comment complaining about it bother me more than anything. What are they afraid of? Why are they so offended? Why be offended by anything unless it's directed at you personally or those you love?

Porn is harmless unless it is made and/or distributed without the model(s)' consent or the model(s) are underage; in that case, it is a legal issue (moral values aside.)

Before this starts to sound like a court document I will kindly digress.

If this is supposed to be such a clean, wholesome, porn-free site, why do people leave such nasty comments on things they don't approve of?

Let the debate rage into infinity.

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

But my parents' house is on Schoolhouse Rd. which is right off of Western Ave. near Stuyvesant Plaza. Yeah, we just got a helluva lotta snow two nights ago...and it's freakin' March!! I bet you're lovin' it down there. Go to the beach at all? If so use a ton of sunscreen cuz I remember you're a redhead (like meee!!)

I lived on Mercer off of Ryckman right at the bottom of the hill of S. Main. The for sale sign is still there.
Yeah Schoolhouse Road =] Gosh, I love talking to someone and knowing where they mean. It's possibly the most comforting feeling I've had lately.

SNOW!!! I MISS IT. SEND ME A BOX PLEASE.
You can come live here if you want.
Nah, I'm not loving it here, but that's whatever. Nope. No beach lately. I'm too busy to go anywhere.
Aha yeah, I take swimming as a class in my highschool here, and it's only March and I'm beginning to burn. It's crazy!

How's life up there in the cold?
